At Doton Farm, we produce more than dairy products.  We also tap the trees in the sugar bush each spring to make pure Vermont maple syrup.  We invite you to check out how the syrup is made at Doton Farm by reading below and checking out our photos as well.

Maple Syrup

It starts in the woods, where Paul and Bryan tap the maple trees each year in the late winter/early spring when the weather offers cold nights and warmer days prompting the sap to run.  Small spouts are tapped into each tree to capture the sap and it runs through the pipeline down the the sugar house.

Did you know it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup?

Paul's brother, Dwight, takes care of the sap once it's in the sugar house.  He boils the sap down until it is the right consistency, then bottles it in syrup jugs for people to bring home to their tables.

Did you know the Long Trail Brewing Company uses Doton Farm syrup to add to their Harvest brew?
